Basic Mambo
(Complete beginners start here - NO experience
required!)
Learn the technique and fundamental rules of beginning
Mambo. We will explain and demonstrate thoroughly, the
music, timing and counts, as well as how they apply
to your basic Mambo step pattern.
You will also learn:
- Basic step pattern – forward/back, and
side-to-side
- Basic right turn
- Broken left turn
- Partner work - proper body positioning, hand
positioning
- Partner tension
- Cross-body
- Introduction to giving/receiving “preps”
- Basic three turn combination
- Basic footwork/shines
- Music theory
Why this class is different at Latin Rhythms:
Latin Rhythms is dedicated to practicing, as well as
teaching the timing and counts of the music. You can’t
expect to really understand dancing, without a solid
understanding of the music, and thus we stress the music
theory aspect of our curriculum in all our classes -
in particular, our Mambo class.
This class prepares you for Intermediate Mambo and/or
Salsa to Mambo
